The Great Orme is of course, the most well known of all the Llandudno attractions for the views of its outstanding, sculpted coastline. The choice is yours, walk, drive, take a tram or cable car your way up this 207m/679ft limestone rock, rising up out of the sea. Once you’ve reached the visitor centre at the top, follow the nature trail which gives you the opportunity to spot some of The Orme’s wildlife including wild Kashmir goats. Maybe you’d prefer to visit the Copper mines at the top? Its home to the oldest metal mines open to public in the world. There will be a member of the excavation team on hand to guide you through.
Tubing and tobogganing is also something you can enjoy from the Top of the Orme. What better way to enjoy the views over the Llandudno bay, but by speeding down the longest toboggan, Cresta run in Wales.
Bodafon Farm Park is a favourite if you have small children. Just a stone’s throw away from the seafront you can take advantage of all the joys of a Welsh Farm. The farm is also home to The Owls Trust, a registered charity which saves and untutored injured owls. Visit Otis, a 4” high owl believed to be the very last collared scops owl in the UK. Feed the goats, llamas and lambs before making your way to the cartwheel café. With a large open garden courtyard, enjoy a freshly prepared wood fired pizza, or perhaps their famous Bodafon minted lamb burgers cooked on their saw blade BBQ?
As we are situated next to the sea, what would a trip to Llandudno be without a boat trip? Operating daily from spring through to autumn, enjoy a 30 minute tour around the Orme. Running next to the pier, it’s easy to pick up your tickets and take a walk along the pier before your ride. This Victorian pier, dating back to the 1800’s is home to plenty of shops, bars and cafes.
Maes Du Club offers an 18-hole Championship course for the serious golf lovers out there. But if you’re new to golf or have children who also want to learn, this course is suitable for learners of all abilities too.
Even though Llandudno is situated on the coastline, Llandudno is great position to easily reach other activity hubs like Betws-y-Coed and Colwyn Bay. Just over a 30 drive away is the Snowdonia National Park where you can take on the highest mountain in Wales. If the children are tired, you can always take the steam train back down where you’ll reach the quaint little town of Llanberis.
